Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can I find out what year my instrument
was made?
A: The
first two digits of all Modulus serial numbers indicate the year the instrument
was manufactured. For example, a bass with serial # 930111 was built in 1993,
and a bass with serial # 020343 was built in 2002. Modulus began using serial
numbers in 1990, so all basses before that time bear only the Modulus patent
number.
Q: How can I get a replacement pickguard for my Flea or VJ bass?
A: As
Modulus does not make individual pickguards, please
refer to a local repair shop or technician to have a replacement pickguard made for your bass. You will need to take your
existing pickguard in to the shop so that they can
trace the pattern to get an exact match.
Q: What kind of strings does Modulus use?
A: All new
Modulus basses are strung with D’Addarios here at the
factory. We use nickel round-wounds, gauges .35, .45, .65, .85, .105, .130. For
34" scale basses we use their "Long-scale" string, and for our
35" scale basses its the "Super-longs."
Most retail stores sell a similar set called “XL170” which are available in
both long and super-long scale length. Sets of Modulus spec D’Addarios
are available for sale on our website as well.
Q: What models does Modulus offer in a left-handed
version?
A: At this
time, only the Genesis 4 & 5 basses, and the
Genesis VJ are available in a lefty format. We are currently working to add
lefty versions of all Quantums to the list as well,
so check back periodically for updates.
Q: Where can I buy replacement hardware and
parts for my Modulus bass?
A: Since
we need to keep a healthy supply of hardware and parts on hand here at the
factory in order to continue producing eagerly awaited instruments, we do not
sell replacement parts. We recommend that you contact the friendly and helpful
staff at Allparts (www.allparts.com
, (800)327-8942) for all your replacement part needs.
